Meet Our Pastor

Jerry D. Locke was born in 1945, the third son of Pastor Al & Mary Locke in Stephenville, TX.  Jerry moved to Lake Worth at the age of 7, when his father became the pastor of Lake Worth Baptist Church in 1952.

At the age of 10 Jerry was saved and baptized the same night of his salvation.  After graduating from Lake Worth High School in 1963, Jerry surrendered to God's call to ministry at age 18, while a student at North Texas State University in Denton.  He graduated in 1968 from the Independent Baptist School of the Bible, Dallas, Texas (now Independent Baptist College), with a Bachelor of Theology degree, also receiving that year the B. F. Dearmore Award for high Christian character.

Bro. Locke was ordained in 1966 by the Lake Worth Baptist Church, while serving as a student pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Caddo, Texas.  In 1968 he took his first full-time pastorate, Bible Baptist Church, Electra, Texas, followed by pastorates at Belt Line Baptist Church, Mesquite (1969-1976) and Northway Baptist Church, Humble (1976-1983).  Bro. Locke has served as the pastor at Lake Worth Baptist Church since 1983, following the retirement of Al. C. Locke who served the church for 31 years.

He has since earned a Masters of Divinity (1992) and a Doctorate of Ministry degree (1993) from the Great Plains Baptist Divinity School, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  All of his degrees are earned degrees from unaccredited institutions.

Jerry married the former Susan Locke in December of 1966 and they have two grown, married children, Craig and Andrea Locke and Michelle and James Johnson, and three grandchildren, Quinton Locke, and Gracie and Gatlin Johnson.  Craig is the pastor of Willow Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Edgewood, Texas.  Michelle and James are educators in the Aledo and Keller school systems. 

Bro. Jerry has served as Volunteer Chaplain for the City of Lake Worth since and 1992 and is also serves on the Chaplain staff at Harris NW Hospital in Azle, Texas.  Bro. Jerry received the United Way "Volunteer of the Year for the City of Lake Worth" in 2000.  He presently serves on the Ethics Committed at Harris NW Hospital, Azle.

Bro. Locke is a frequent conference, revival, camp and youth speaker and is the author of fifteen books published by LWBC Publications (check the link for selections and prices).
